“They’re okay. Just scared.” He held us all a bit tighter as the little ones began to relax. Their sniffling stopped, and Grigory started to squirm. I let them go, and he hugged Ashley. She hugged him back.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” she said. “Looked like you bonked your head.” She gently rubbed the spot as he clung to her, and my heart swelled. This was the core of my family, unconditional love and support.
“Ma!” Kenzie said. “Da!” She waddled over and jumped on Vlad, who quickly caught her.
“Hungry, little miss?” he asked her, kissing the tip of her nose. She nodded, and he picked up Lada in his other arm and carried them both out. Grigory and Ashley were right on his heels, and I followed, my heart still beating hard.

Even as my belly skin hung a bit and my breasts were beginning to sag from babies and breastfeeding, he still found me as attractive as ever. And of course, the crinkling at the corners of his eyes and the few stray gray hairs invading his temples made him as handsome as ever. I loved him with all my heart. With everything I was.
My life was complete…but there was room for more.
One more.
Maybe I’d tell him tonight.
Or maybe I’d make him wait a little longer.
